About
The Janesville Community Ice Arena Project is a collaborative effort between the City of Janesville and The Janesville Youth Hockey Association Building Committee.
As one of Janesville’s most used recreational facilities, the current Janesville ice skating center is growing in popularity. New and existing user groups struggle to acquire facility time. The poor facility condition and eminent threat of equipment failure at the current ice skating center has left the community facing large maintenance and repair costs in the near future. These issues have brought the City of Janesville and Janesville Youth Hockey Association together to develop a solution.
Janesville’s City Council has committed $2.5 million toward the construction of a new facility. The Janesville Youth Hockey Association has committed to obtaining funds for the project balance of $2.5 million and $500,000 in “sweat equity” savings.
The project is divided into two phases that would ideally be completed together.
- Phase one includes the primary ice surface, office, utilities and retail space. It boasts expanded seating and improved locker room facilities.
- Phase two incorporates a second ice surface during peak season while it is envisioned as a community multi- purpose facility during the off season.
These dreams will become a reality….but only with your help. You can make this vision your own by sharing your gift or talent. To learn more about how you can help or to make a financial contribution here, or visit our volunteer page.
